Three years ago big game hunter Tom Hammond, a client and fan of Wayland’s artwork, was building his new home in Michigan. It was to include a 5,000 square foot trophy room to showcase all his accomplishments over the years. He requested for Wayland to craft a pair of 9 foot tall hand-engraved glass doors for its entrance. Wayland engraved a beautiful lion motif and he and Rhonda delivered the doors via rental van to Michigan themselves. This year Tom was named the 2011 Conklin Award recipient. He conducted an interview discussing the award in his home and in the trophy room that showed the art Wayland created. Please check back for the video clip of Tom’s interview to learn more about his background and to see the stunning doors. In the meantime, you can see photos of the doors by clicking on the Galleries page and going to the Glass Work & Art Slideshow.Congratulations to Tom as well as thanks for helping Wayland’s art to b seen!
